Introduction

Music. Such a powerful part of this world. Urban Dictionary defines it as “Indefinable by words alone. It is not only something you hear but what you feel. It is something your soul can reach out and touch. It originates from all over the world since time began. Complex or simple, fast or slow, loud or soft. It is what you feel, or it could be your method of escape or it could just keep you alive.” This maybe a little dramatic but still very true. This world would not go around without music. (yes, Justin Bieber’s baby album qualifies as music to some people). 

A song is usually not complete without the lyrics. But how often do you actually know what the song your jamming to means? Ya you may be able to bust out “Alright STOP collaborate and listen..blah blah blah” ,because it is the only part of the song you know, but what does Vanilla Ice really mean in the 1990’s classic. 

That is where I come in. Over the course of the next semester I will be picking different songs to translate and decode so you know what you’re really singing about. Maybe you’ll learn a thing or two. I will be reaching out to all different generes of music, different decades, as well as the typical Lady gaga song. Enjoy!
